book review

From the North County TimesSunday, September 4th, 2011:

By CIGI ROSS cross@nctimes.com
I've never worked in a bar, but I have sat on many stools and watched as bartenders simultaneously slung bottles, took orders from impatient patrons and mixed multiple drinks.
"This Girl Walks Into a Bar," a wannabe bartender's guide, is as fun and easy to read as it is helpful for those looking to land their first job behind the bar. It also offers advice for those of us who want to learn how to mix a tasty cocktail at home or at
a party...

what women want

My mother has a painting up at The Space at San Diego Repertory / Lyceum Theatre. Opening reception is April 1. This content is a departure for her, but ties in some of the elements she's currently working on in another series. The paintings in this show relate to the play "In The Next Room" currently showing at that venue. Here are some details of the canvas.

layers

I'm happy with the way this Save the Date turned out. This bride & groom wanted something romantic, with layers of imagery — photographic and hand drawn. I'm looking forward to working on the rest of their invitation!

NY wedding

This bride loved the art deco invitations I did a while back and wanted to do something similar but put her own spin on it. I loved that she wanted to use this electric green, and paired with silver it looks very youthful and elegant.

this girl walks into a bar...

My sister and I have launched our website and a blog — This Girl Walks Into A Bar — where she writes about all things bartending. "Read true, sometimes shocking stories, get insider tips on how to deal with drunks who hump barstools and customers who don’t tip, or become an expert bartender with our fabulous book and amazing accessories!" I designed it, she wrote it...we're a sister team!
